Just like my father did before me, I’ve run a small business all of my life. It’s not an easy thing to do. You find yourself involved in a struggle that most people just don’t understand. My father understood my challenges and was a great sounding board for me. Anyone who owns a business can set their own rules. That’s pretty cool.
So, I declared that at my office, every day would be take your father to work day. Executive decision, done.
I loved taking my father to work and he loved being around the action. When you see old black and white photos of famous directors on set that are often sitting on a camera dolly or crane pointing at something. One day we had set up this dolly shot in a field east of Tampa. I asked Pop to sit up there and point, I snapped this picture. He never directed any films but he managed to direct a pretty good life.
